An American here, I became interested in Driss Ghali's book on the counter-history of French colonization because I had done editing for another author on her work on French colonization and empire in India and Southeast Asia. I'm about halfway through Driss's book now and am very impressed with the quality of the ideas and the writing. I've learned about places I had never studied before, such as North Africa. Even the book's cover is eye-catching, turns out to be from a famous French poster artist from the early 20th century, if I'm not mistaken. Thank you so much for this interview.
I'm glad you found Driss and his book and, indeed, enjoyed the interview, Kay. He's a wonderful writer and his book is timely (and not just for France but for all European countries running this same experiment). I never knew that about the book's cover - thanks for telling me about that. I hope to keep you around as a listener, a fellow Classmate so-to-speak.
Do you know about Hussein Aboubakr Mansour and his substack The Abrahamic Metacritique? His latest post is not to be missed: From Ideology to Identity, The Western Metamorphosis of Post-Brotherhood Islamism.
Funny you should say that. I've saved his article to read later this week. Once read, I'll explore the opportunity to speak with him. Looks like a corker.

Thanks John, I'll be happy to keep listening!
